Rosa Parks Script Sample
Characters
Serena, Janie, Eric, and Juan
Setting
A dining room table with four chairs, sitting in front of a picture window
facing a wooded backyard. A potted plant is in the corner of the room,
and there are two pictures hanging on the wall: a family portrait, and a
painting of flowers. Off to the side of the stage is a podium. On the other
side of the stage is a desk with a computer, situated at an angle so that
if a person is sitting at the desk, he is facing the audience.
The four main characters are sitting at the dining room table,
stacked with books, paper, and have pencils in hand.
Serena:
Now that we're altogether,
We have a report to write.
Janie:
I hope this doesn't take long.
'Cause I don't have all night!
Eric:
Well, it shouldn't take too long
If we've all done our part.
Juan:
Well, wait are we waiting for?
I say, let's just start!
Eric:
I have a great beginning
That I think is pretty swift
'Cause when it comes to writing
I think I have a gift.
So you guys just sit back
And prepare to be impressed.
I've written a great introduction
So you guys can just write the rest!
(Steps up to the podium.)
To start a great big fire
It only takes a spark
That's why we're telling the story
Of the courageous Rosa Parks!
It started in Montgomery
In 1955
When the Civil Rights Movement
Was just starting to come alive!
